Requirements for Being a Student at Nothas College
To become a student at Nothas College, applicants must meet the minimum admission requirement of a high school certificate (Grade 12 or equivalent) and must have passed English as a first language. Once admitted, students are expected to have access to a stable internet connection and a digital device to participate in our online learning environment.
In addition to our fully online programs, Nothas College offers Study Centres across South Africa, where students can access academic support, attend scheduled workshops, and engage in peer learning. These sessions are normally held at venues shared directly with students upon enrollment. To gain access to a Study Centre, students must present their official student number as proof of registration. These centres are designed to enhance the learning experience by offering a supportive, in-person environment to complement online studies

We use study centres at Nothas College to provide students with additional support beyond the virtual classroom. While our primary learning model is online, study centres offer a physical space where students can access resources, attend workshops, receive academic guidance, and collaborate with peers. These centres help bridge the gap between online learning and real-world interaction, ensuring that students feel connected, supported, and engaged in their academic journey.
Requiring a student number for entry ensures that only registered students have access, maintaining a secure and focused learning environment. Ultimately, we use this system to enhance the quality of education, promote accountability, and create a sense of community across our nationwide student base.

Great question! The use of study centres and student identification systems, like requiring a student number, comes from a need to support blended learning models—a combination of online education with occasional in-person interaction.
At institutions like Nothas College, where the primary mode of delivery is online, study centres are introduced to:
1    Enhance student engagement – giving learners a space to meet tutors, attend workshops, and interact with peers.
2    Provide academic support – allowing students to receive guidance, use shared resources, and get help with assignments or exams.
3    Ensure security and accountability – requiring a student number helps verify identities and ensure only enrolled students access the facilities.
4    Create a sense of community – online learning can feel isolating, so these physical venues help students feel more connected.
This approach is commonly used in distance learning institutions worldwide, such as the University of South Africa (UNISA), Open University in the UK, and many global online colleges that support students through regional support centres or partner venues. Nothas College adopts this method to offer the best of both worlds: the flexibility of online learning and the support of in-person academic environments.
